Meet the Team

Dr Amaury Cazenave Gassiot

Dr Cazenave Gassiot is an early-career researcher specializing in mass spectrometry-based lipidomics, and Research Assistant Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. He holds a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Southampton (UK), supervised by Dr John Langley, with expertise in supercritical fluid chromatography and mass spectrometry. His passion for lipids began during a postdoctoral role with Professor Anthony Postle in Southampton. A member of SLING since 2009, his research focuses on separation sciences, mass spectrometry, and their applications in life sciences, particularly lipid biochemistry. He has created methods for identifying and quantifying lipids in various biological systems, collaborating successfully both locally and internationally.

Dr Sim Xueling

Dr Sim is a statistical geneticist, the Co-Director of the Centre for Precision Health (CPH), and Assistant Professor at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, NUS. She has conducted most of the genetic association studies in East and South Asians, and recently led the largest meta-analysis of genome wide association studies in East Asians which discovered many variants associated with type 2 diabetes, and also showed that variants at the same locus may regulate different target genes in a tissue specific manner—a paper that was published in NATURE. Dr Sim will also be responsible for overseeing the development of a knowledge portal that will allow investigators without the analytical capabilities to analyze data themselves, using the genomic dataset developed by FC2.
