4. Industry-Academia Research Grants for Postdoctoral Researchers:

5. Chalk Talk Preparation Workshops:
   Learn to structure, deliver, and refine your chalk talks for academic job interviews. Present your research ideas using traditional visual aids in front of professors, peers, and students to simulate real interview conditions.

6. MOE-START Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowship (open to SC/SPR):
   Nurture high-calibre Singaporeans for academic career in NUS by supporting overseas postdoctoral training. The fellowship covers:

• One set of return airfare between Singapore and place of study
• Conference grant
• For scholars with external funding, sign-on bonus of up to SGD 66,000 per year upon securing tenure track Assistant Professor position

7. NUS Presidential Young Professorship (PYP) (open to SC/SPR/Foreigner):
   To attract, support, and empower the brightest and most promising young academics in the early stage of their careers so that they can develop themselves into world-class scholars. Offer includes:

• A tenure-track position with an attractive salary package as an assistant professor at NUS
• Applications Up to SGD 1 million in a start-up research grant  + Scholarships to hire PhD students*
• An award of SGD 250,000 in white space funding
• An opportunity to compete for the Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF) Fellowship, which comes with a five-year research grant of up to SGD 3 million

8. NUS Development Grant (open to SC):
   Nurture high calibre Singaporean talents for a career in academia by providing additional resources to support young academics early in their research career to sharpen their competitive edge. A grant of SGD 20,000 per year is awarded reimbursable for travel and expenses related to academic activities.

9. MOE-START Inauguration Grant (open to SC):
   For early career Singaporean academics to join NUS with a sign-on bonus. This includes SGD 200,000 in cash, paid in two tranches, SGD 80,000 after 2 years; SGD 120,000 after 4 years of service. Candidates should not have previously received grants and/or scholarships from the Singapore government

1. Professional Development Programme-Teaching (PDP-T) by CDTL (3-day Core Workshop):
   A 24-hour intensive program over 3 days, aimed at acquainting participants with teaching and learning processes. It emphasizes grasping learning outcomes, designing effective teaching activities, and crafting assessments. Highlighting broader goals of higher education, it stresses relevance to individuals and society. Participants delve into learning as dynamic knowledge construction, transcending information transmission. Ultimately, it equips educators to create meaningful learning experiences, aligning with institutional objectives and enhancing education quality. Tailored for postdoc fellows, it hones teaching skills, focusing on methodologies, curriculum development, and assessment techniques, empowering educators to enhance teaching effectiveness and foster student academic success.
2. PDP-T Teaching Seminar Series by CDTL:
   The Seminar Series fosters a faculty-mentored community of practice, spanning a year, culminating in a teaching statement. Meeting every few months for 2-hour sessions, it integrates Core concepts into teaching practices. Reflection aids in crafting a teaching philosophy. Participants engage in formative peer observation and by the end of the series, they can articulate teaching strategies aligned with disciplinary context, referencing learning outcomes, activities, and assessment. They evaluate these strategies considering student needs and their teaching. Ultimately, they can critically apply these strategies to their teaching and students' learning, enhancing their pedagogical approach and fostering effective educational experiences.
3. Practical Class Teaching Opportunities:
   Opportunities specifically for postdoctoral fellow to teach life science courses offered by NUSMed & DBS

The Industry Track connects postdoctoral fellows with real-world applications of research through exposure to industry trends, career pathways, and innovation ecosystems.

1. CFG Industry Connect Sessions:
   These sessions bridge academia and industry by enabling knowledge exchange and collaborations. Participants engage with professionals across sectors through panel discussions, guest talks, and networking events, gaining insights into career paths and industry trends.
2. NUS Enterprise GRIP & Phillip Yeo Initiative (PYI):
   A structured program offering step-by-step guidance to transform research into deep-tech startups. It supports and mentors researchers and postgraduate students, empowering them to become next-generation entrepreneurs and change-makers.
3. Industry-Academia Research Grants for Postdoctoral Researchers:

Business & Entrepreneurship: Explore the world of innovation and commercialization, gaining insights into starting a business or collaborating with industry. Offerings in the Business & Entrepreneurship Track include:

1. Elevator Pitch Training Workshops:
   Interactive sessions designed to help individuals craft and deliver concise, persuasive speeches about themselves or their ideas. These workshops focus on communicating a value proposition effectively in 30 seconds to 2 minutes, ideal for networking events, interviews, or investor pitches. Participants engage in exercises, receive feedback, and gain practical tips for impactful delivery.
2. NUS Medicine International Council Elevator Pitch to Investors:
   Postdocs present their business ideas or startup projects to potential investors in concise, high-impact pitches. The goal is to convey the business opportunity, value proposition, and market potential quickly, spark investor interest, and open doors for funding and growth.

Take advantage of our NUSMed Coaching Programme, where certified coaches provide personalized guidance. The NUSMed OPA, in collaboration with NUSMed faculty trained as Associate Coaches, provides life coaching to postdocs. This structured initiative aims to offer personalized guidance and support for enhancing specific skills and behaviors. Through 1-on-1 sessions, goal-setting, and feedback, coaches help postdocs identify strengths, weaknesses,

and areas for improvement. The program focuses on fostering self-awareness, setting goals, and enhancing skills. By providing encouragement, strategies, and accountability measures, it aims to empower postdocs to overcome challenges, maximize their potential, and achieve their desired outcomes, thereby enriching their personal and professional lives.

We have rolled out Mentorship Programme, connecting you with seasoned professionals from both academia and industry. These mentors will offer valuable insights, provide career advice, and help you build connections within and outside of the academic world.
