About The Electives Programme

The Electives Programme at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS Medicine) offers medical students from universities outside of Singapore the opportunity to complete an electives posting(s) at one of the NUS Medicine-affiliated hospitals. Students will have the opportunity to join and learn alongside our NUS Medicine students from Years 3 to 5 for full–time clinical postings.

During the clinical elective posting(s), students will have the opportunity to undertake the following responsibilities together with NUS Medicine’s students:

  • History taking and interview techniques
  • Physical examination
  • Clinical problem solving
  • Effective communication with patients and relatives
  • Management and treatment approaches
  • Research

Upon completion of each posting, your supervisor will be able to provide an evaluation of your performance using the posting assessment form provided by NUS Medicine and by your own university (if any). Students will be provided with a Letter of Completion at the end of their final posting.

You are advised to read the detailed information provided from the application portal before applying to the Clinical Electives Programme. Applicants who fail to comply with the application procedures may not be arranged for a posting. Any incomplete applications will not be processed.
