Singapore will become an international hub for neuroscience research from 26 to 30 April 2027 with the organization of the EMBO Global Workshop on Cellular and Systems Mechanisms of Memory in Health and Disease at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
EMBO is an organization of more than 2,100 leading researchers that promotes excellence in the life sciences in Europe and beyond. The major goals of the organization are to support talented researchers at all stages of their careers, stimulate the exchange of scientific information, and help build a research environment where scientists can achieve their best work.
The meeting is spearheaded by Assoc Prof Sreedharan Sajikumar from the Department of Physiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, and is co-hosted by the Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme (TRP), the Neuroscience TRP, and the Life Sciences Institute (LSI) Neurobiology Programme.
The workshop will bring together more than 35 world-leading scientists in memory research, synaptic plasticity, cognitive neuroscience, and neurological disorders. The event aims to promote interdisciplinary discussions on how memories are formed, stored, and disrupted in disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and other neuropsychiatric conditions.
The scientific programme will showcase cutting-edge advances in molecular and cellular mechanisms of synaptic plasticity, neural circuit dynamics of memory, neuromodulation, artificial intelligence in neuroscience, and translational strategies for brain health and cognitive resilience. A pre-conference satellite symposium on 26 April 2027 will further provide opportunities for scientific networking, collaboration, and engagement of early-career researchers.
The workshop is expected to strengthen Singapore’s growing global presence in neuroscience and biomedical research while fostering collaborations among scientists, clinicians, and industry partners worldwide.
