Published: 15 Aug 2025
The NUS Medicine Class of 2030 began their first chapter together at the Welcome Dinner on 1 August 2025, where they met faculty and forged new friendships. On 14 August, the cohort marked another milestone at the White Coat Ceremony, a proud moment as they donned their first white coats and pledged to serve with integrity and compassion.
Here are some memorable moments from the Welcome Dinner and White Coat Ceremony.
Welcome Dinner

Faculty educators, led by Prof Chong Yap Seng, Dean of NUS Medicine, entered in a ceremonial procession.

The bannermen from each student house made their way into the hall, carrying their house flags high in a display of spirit and unity.
Prof Chong introduces the Class of 2030 to the school and life as an NUS Medicine student.

Our women students don their NUS Medicine scarves, each woven in the signature colours and patterns created specially for the Class of 2030.

The ties for men, also unique to the class, serve as another emblem of their shared identity and belonging in the NUS Medicine community.

Prof Chong led a candle-lighting ceremony where the faculty passed the light of knowledge and wisdom to the new students.

Welcome aboard, Class of 2030, to the NUS Medicine family!
White Coat Ceremony

In his welcome address, Prof Chong welcomed the Class of 2030 to a new journey of learning, growth, and camaraderie.

This year’s event was graced by Prof Tan Chorh Chuan, Chairman of the MOH Office for Healthcare Transformation and former President of NUS, who attended as Guest-of-Honour.

The presentation and acceptance of white coats by faculty to the students symbolised their taking on the mantle of a doctor in training, guided by the principles and responsibilities of their future profession.

Our students pledged their dedication to the medical profession by taking the Hippocratic Oath.
