EMBO Global Workshop 2027: Overwhelming international response as registration deadline approaches on 15 November 2026
Published: 30 Oct 2026

The upcoming EMBO Global Workshop on Cellular and Systems Mechanisms of Memory in Health and Disease is scheduled to take place at the National University of Singapore (NUS) from 27 to 30 April 2027.
Since the announcement of the workshop, the organising committee has received strong interest from scientists, clinicians, postdoctoral fellows, and postgraduate students representing institutions from across the globe. This enthusiastic response reflects the growing importance of understanding the cellular and systems mechanisms underlying memory formation, ageing, and neurological disorders.
Spearheaded by Associate Professor Sreedharan Sajikumar, Department of Physiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, the workshop is co-hosted by the Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme (TRP), Neuroscience TRP, and Life Sciences Institute (LSI) Neurobiology Programme.
The four-day scientific programme features more than 35 internationally recognised scientists and covers emerging discoveries in synaptic plasticity, memory circuits, cognitive neuroscience, neurodegeneration, and therapeutic approaches to improving brain health.
With the registration deadline approaching, interested participants are encouraged to submit their applications by 15 November 2026.
Although the workshop has generated substantial international interest, the organising committee is particularly keen to encourage participation from Singapore’s local neuroscience and biomedical research community. Priority consideration will be given to local researchers, especially early-career scientists and students, to maximise opportunities for scientific exchange, networking, and future collaborations.
Pre-Conference Satellite Symposium
An additional highlight is the pre-conference satellite symposium, “From Synapses to Cognition: Emerging Frontiers in Memory Research”, scheduled for 26 April 2027 at NUS.
The satellite symposium brings together researchers working across different areas of neuroscience and provide an additional platform for scientific discussions, knowledge exchange, and networking. It offers valuable opportunities for postgraduate students and early-career researchers to engage with established scientists and explore emerging research directions.
Together, the satellite symposium and main EMBO workshop promise to make Singapore a vibrant meeting point for the international neuroscience community in April 2027.
Researchers interested in participating are encouraged to register before the deadline.
