Biography
A/Prof Theresa is an associate professor in the Department of Biochemistry, National University of Singapore (NUS) Her current position aligns well with her twin interests of research and education. Education has always been her passion and there is great satisfaction when students learn and progress. Since joining NUS, she has accumulated much experience as an academic; taught classes and planned curriculum, exposed to and used new teaching approaches, supervised and mentored budding researchers, and published work as a researcher. To date she has more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals with citations of 2,685 and h-index of 28. Areas of interest include nutrition and metabolism, hepatitis B, and non-coding RNAs.
Her passion for teaching which naturally includes nurturing, and mentorship has also propelled her to take on the role of an assistant dean for Academic Affairs in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. This role has enabled her to use her academic experience and her ability to work with people to achieve institutional goals and personal growth. She relishes the challenge to be part of the team that shapes the future of education through her contributions not only in educating students but also through her role in recruiting, mentoring, and helping chart the career paths of young academic staff.
