Overview

A Neuroscience Translational Research Programme (TRP) is formed to realise the true potential of NUS Neuroscience for the following reasons:
- It will establish a foundational framework vital for the recruitment of high-flying faculty from overseas and retaining local talent.
- It will catalyse opportunities for impactful research, attracting the next generation of clinician-scientists and clinicians across neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry and geriatrics.
- It will increase cohesion between current faculty in the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUSMed) and i) the National University Health System (NUHS); ii) other parts of NUS including but not limited to the Department of Biological Sciences (DBS), Engineering, Computing.
- It will ensure that we are not left behind other institutions like SingHealth or the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in the emerging island-wide plans for major RIE2030 investments in neurodegeneration, mental health and healthy aging via the National Research Foundation (NRF) and the National Medical Research Council (NMRC).

Vision

A future in which the most devastating neurological diseases can be detected before symptoms emerge, slowed in their progression, and ultimately prevented - through discoveries made at NUS and delivered to patients through world-class clinical partnerships.

Mission

To discover how to detect, slow, stop, reverse and prevent human neurological disease in areas where treatments are inadequate or absent - and to break down the barriers between fundamental science and clinical medicine that have, for too long, slowed the journey from discovery to patient.
