Transfer to NUS Medicine

Medical Student Transfer

Currently, there are no vacancies available. You may indicate your interest via the Transfer Interest Form and we will contact you in early-mid May should a vacancy arise.

NUS Medicine accepts transfer students, who are Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents, on a case-by-case basis should there be vacancies available for the particular year of transfer application. Transfers are limited to either Phase II (Year 2) or Phase III (Year 3) of NUS Medicine, depending on the vacancy. The Academic Year begins in June for Phase III and in August for Phase II.

Transfer
For Singapore Citizens & PRs

Applicants must be current students of Medical institutions recognised by the Singapore Medical Council (SMC).

Applicants who are currently students of local universities will need to apply directly with the NUS Office of Admissions and begin at Year 1.

For International Applicants

Foreign medical students must apply via the standard admissions route to begin at Year 1.


 
How to Apply for Transfer

Step 1 1 Jan – 31 Mar

Submit your interest to transfer by 31 March. You will need to submit your supporting documents in addition to submitting the interest form.

Step 2 1 Jan – 31 Mar

Email your supporting documents to medbox24@nus.edu.sg, with subject title [Transfer Application (year)] by 31 March.

Supporting Documents:
• Personal Statement including your reasons for transfer (this should not exceed one A4 page)
List of Activities form
• List of Clinical Postings, if you are in your clinical years
• Photocopy of IC (front and back in colour)
• All University Academic Transcripts with GPA/Overall Grade displayed
• Description of modules/subjects taken (this is to align your curriculum with NUS Medicine)
• Pre-University/High School final exam results (e.g. A Level, IB, Diploma)
*For A Level holders, please ensure your Project Work and Mother Tongue certification is provided
• Optional: Referee recommendations (maximum of two)

1. Submission of Interest Form

Submit your interest to transfer here → and email your supporting documents to medbox24@nus.edu.sg. To be eligible for the upcoming Academic Year, you must submit your interest within the interest window.

2. Notification of Vacancy
Early-Mid May

If transfer vacancies are available, applicants will be notified by email of the year in which the vacancy is for. Transfers to NUS Medicine are handled on an individual, case-by-case basis, in the event that a vacancy is available in that particular year.

3. Shortlisting for Interview
Phase III: Early-Mid May
Phase II: Early June

Shortlisted candidates will be notified of their interview.

• For Phase III (Year 3) transfer candidates, you will be informed in early May via email of the interview that will take place between mid to end May.
• For Phase II (Year 2) transfer candidates, you will be informed in early June via email of the interview that will take place between mid to end June.

4. Outcome of Interview/Offer
Phase III: End May
Phase II: End June

Interviewed candidates will be informed of the outcome.

• For Phase III (Year 3) transfer candidates, you will be informed via email by end May.
• For Phase II (Year 2) transfer candidates, you will be informed via email by end June.

Candidates who accept the offer will need to complete the matriculation process to be admitted into NUS Medicine.

5. Start of Academic Year
Phase III: June
Phase II: August

Candidates will need to be back in Singapore to complete their health check and get set up before the start of their school term.

• Academic year for Phase III (Year 3) starts in June.
• Academic year for Phase II (Year 2) starts in August.

We will work to ensure a smooth transition and address any gaps in the medical curriculum and training.
