As we mark the 120th anniversary of NUS Medicine, I am filled with a deep sense of pride and gratitude for the generations of educators, clinicians, researchers, staff and students who have shaped this remarkable legacy since 1905. Their collective dedication and vision have laid the foundation for an institution that has consistently advanced the frontiers of medical education, research and care.
The Department of Medicine has, over the decades, been at the heart of this journey — advancing medical knowledge, delivering compassionate and patient-centred care, and nurturing generations of doctors, clinician-scientists, clinician-scholars and future leaders. Our contributions span the full spectrum of teaching, research and clinical service, and our impact is reflected not only in academic and scientific achievements, but also in the lives of the patients and communities we serve.
Our strength has always come from our people — their professionalism and unwavering commitment to excellence. Through periods of change, growth and challenge, they have remained steadfast in upholding the highest standards, and in embodying the values upon which NUS Medicine was founded.
Today, as we reflect on how far we have come, we also look ahead with purpose and confidence. The challenges facing healthcare are complex, but so too are the opportunities before us. Grounded in our strong traditions and guided by our enduring values, we remain committed to innovation, collaboration and the pursuit of better outcomes for our patients and communities.
On behalf of the Department of Medicine, I extend my warmest congratulations to NUS Medicine and NUS on this historic milestone. May the next chapter be defined by continued progress, meaningful impact and an enduring legacy of excellence.
