Application Deadlines

There are 2 intakes per academic year, one in August and the other in January. All applications must reach the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Dean’s Office by 31 December (of the previous year) for the August intake, and by 30 June (of the previous year) for the January intake.

Application Outcome

For applicants who have submitted the completed application (with all the required documents) before the respective application deadlines, their applications will be processed and they can check their application outcome via the online admission system. Only successful candidates will be notified of their application outcome via email by the following notification periods:

Please submit your application before 31 December (August intake) and 30 June (January intake) to be eligible for scholarship evaluation.

Applications that are received after the respective application deadline will be considered for the next intake.

Admission interviews are usually conducted online in March/April for the August intake and August/ September for the January intake respectively.

Applicants who applied for the research scholarship must apply by 31 December for the March/April interviews and by 30 June for the August/ September interviews.

General Information

For information on the various research scholarships available, please refer to here. Application for research scholarships can be submitted together with their online admission application.
Shortlisted applicants, especially those who applied for the research scholarship, may be required to attend an online interview. The Admission interviews are usually in March/April for the August intake and August/ September for the January intake respectively.

Applicants whose medium of instruction is not English are required to submit TOEFL/IELTS scores as evidence of English language proficiency. Exemptions will be given to applicants with distinctions in the Cambridge GCE ‘O’ level examination English Language Paper 1119. The minimum TOEFL score required is 580/237/85 for the paper-based, computer-based and internet-based tests respectively. For IELTS, the minimum score required is 6.5.
There is no age limit. As long as you meet the minimum admission requirements, you are eligible to apply. Each application is considered on its own merits.
The documentary proof of financial standing should be in the form of a bank statement for international students and for applicants working in Singapore, a copy of their recent pay slip and bank statement. If you are going to be supported by a sponsor, we will need a letter of confirmation from your sponsor (the sponsor needs to indicate his/her relationship to you), together with the financial status proof. You must have sufficient funds to support your study [estimated cost of living (S$30,000) plus Tuition Fees] for at least two years.
You need not indicate a specific topic if you don't have one in mind. You should, however, indicate the research area(s) that you are interested in. You may browse through the list of research projects available here .
You need not indicate any proposed Thesis Advisor(s) if you are unable to at the point of application. However, it is helpful that you indicate the area of research that you are interested in to facilitate the application process. You may find more information on the research areas in NUS Medicine from the list of research projects here.
Research applicants will be informed of the results of their applications by end of April or end of June for the August intake and by end of October or end of November for the January intake.
