NUS Medicine student Chen Yusi receives Diana Award 2024

Chen Yusi, a Year 5 medical student from NUS Medicine, has received the Diana Award 2024 for her outstanding contributions to mentorship and youth empowerment. She joins a global cohort of changemakers celebrated for their transformative efforts in creating long-lasting, positive social impact.

Established in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, the Diana Award is a prestigious accolade that celebrates young individuals who lead with vision, inspire others, and drive meaningful change. This year’s awards received over 1,700 nominations from more than 30 countries, marking one of the most competitive years yet. Yusi’s recognition highlights her exceptional leadership and dedication to fostering a culture of collaboration and support.

Yusi has been recognised for her work in career mentorship. Yusi’s passion for mentorship stems from her own experiences with mentors who guided her towards a career in medicine. Now, as Chief Mentorships Officer at Advisory Singapore—a registered charity helping young Singaporeans navigate career choices—Yusi has taken mentorship to new heights. Under her leadership, the organisation’s career mentorship initiative has expanded significantly, connecting 3,846 students with over 14,000 mentorship hours.

Balancing her responsibilities as a medical student, Yusi has created a culture of empowerment, collaboration, and support that extends to both her mentees and team members. Her efforts highlight the profound impact of mentorship in bridging the gap between classroom education and career aspirations, creating a legacy of growth and opportunity.
