Professor Anantharaman Vathsala appointed Acting Head of Department, Medicine

Professor Anantharaman Vathsala has been appointed as Acting Head, Department of Medicine, at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, with effect from 1 June 2020.
Prof Vathsala is currently the Co-Director of National University Centre for Organ Transplantation (NUCOT). She has helmed numerous milestone achievements in organ transplantation in NUH and Singapore. Under her charge, the transplant programme has developed into a centre of repute for clinical excellence, quality of care, teaching and research.
Our deepest appreciation to Associate Professor Dan Yock Young who will be completing his term as Head, Department of Medicine on 31 May 2020. Assoc Prof Dan will continue his current membership in the Ministry of Health (MOH) Contingency Taskforce to support COVID-19 operations.
Deeply committed to improving the care of patients in the hospital, Assoc Prof Dan played an instrumental role in ensuring that the University Medicine Cluster and Department of Medicine provide high standards and care in the delivery of clinical services, alongside developments aligned to the Cluster’s strategic direction.
Once again, thank you to Assoc Prof Dan for his contributions and stellar leadership in the Department of Medicine since 2014 and to Prof Vathsala for taking on the role of leading the Department during this period.
