Theme 1: The Biology of Chronic Hepatitis B (CHB) &
Theme 1.1: Deep phenotyping of natural history phases of CHB using multi-omics approach

Professor Lim Seng Gee
Director of Hepatology, Division of Hepatology & Enterology, National University Hospital

Professor Lim Seng Gee is the Director of Hepatology at the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, National University Health System, Singapore. He graduated in 1980 from Monash Medical School and completed his research MD at the Royal Free Hospital. He is a member of the editorial boards for Liver International, Journal of Viral Hepatitis, Hepatology International, Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology, and Evidence Based Internal Medicine Solutions. He is currently chairman of the Singapore Hepatology Conference and Science of HBV Cure Conference.

His research includes clinical trials of new treatments for chronic hepatitis B and C, and translational research in viral hepatitis, involving molecular biology and immunology of hepatitis B. He has published 253 peer reviewed publications and secured peer review grant funding worth >SGD $48 Million (>USD$35M), including award of a SGD $25 million National Translational Clinical Research grant in 2015 to investigate eradication of HBV, which was recently renewed. He is the main and corresponding principal investigator for this project, and also theme PI for theme 1.

This theme collates a number of projects that address insights into HBV biology, particularly viral host interactions primarily using peripheral blood mononuclear cells or serum from CHB phenotypically distinct populations.
