Obstetrics and Gynaecology is a unique specialty that gives you abundant joy of bringing motherhood into a woman’s life and taking care of women right from their adolescent stage through the reproductive years and in their golden years. Our inspiring teaching faculty not only aims to impart knowledge and skills to our students, but also demonstrate to them how to accept professional challenges smilingly despite the long and unpredictable working hours.

We are deeply committed to providing a foundational education in the principles of O&G to all of our medical students during the 6 weeks posting in which they will go through rigorous training in clinical areas like wards, clinics, minor and major operating theatres, delivery suite, obstetric emergencies. The teaching methodology that we use, ranges from lectures, hands-on workshops, bed side teachings and simulations using sophisticated high-fidelity mannequins. We have abundant e-learning resources and an assessment banks that drive learning at own pace throughout the year and prepares them for end of year exams.

The posting starts with an intensive week of front-loading lectures, hands-on workshops and simulation trainings to get them ready for clinical work in the coming weeks. There is a blue print of core curriculum topics and each topic is covered in a video lecture and then again in a case-based tutorial. The assessment bank gives an opportunity for reflection and consolidation of knowledge. A formal end of posting assessment is conducted to test their theoretical knowledge, clinical skills and professionalism that instils confidence in them.

We strongly encourage our students to explore their future interests in the speciality and offer a student internship program for those who aspire a career in the speciality, thereby giving them an enriching experience of being a part of our unit. Student interns may also potentially get involved in the ongoing scholarly research projects in the department thus enhancing their professional development.

I warmly welcome our students and sincerely hope that they will have an a truly fruitful experience during this posting.
