Division Director's Message

Pregnancy and childbirth are one of the most important times in a woman’s life. At NUH Women’s Centre, we have had the privilege to share this memorable journey with many thousands of women every year. Our team of dedicated obstetricians are committed to provide the highest standard of care to all pregnant women. Together with our devoted midwifery and nursing teams, we strive to ensure that the women under our care enjoy the process from pregnancy to motherhood. Besides looking after uncomplicated pregnancies, the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine provides a comprehensive range of services for women with high-risk pregnancies. Multidisciplinary care is made possible due to our close collaboration with various specialties at NUH. Our Fetal Care Centre offers advanced prenatal diagnostic procedures including fetoscopic laser surgery for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. With the support of our Women’s Emotional Health Service, we focus not just on the physical but also the mental well-being of our women.

Knowledge is power. Education and continuous learning is key to improving the care of our women, in Singapore and worldwide. To empower our women, regular public symposiums are held. To nurture our future generations of doctors and specialists, we invest time and efforts to impart our knowledge. To ensure we are at the forefront of the latest evidence-based management for our women, we share with and learn from our colleagues internationally.

The clinical standard of care cannot be raised without the tremendous efforts put behind research and research is our pride in our division. We have clinician scientists conducting cutting-edge research in various areas of prenatal diagnosis, pregnancy complications, and in-utero programs to enhance human potential. The many distinguished local and international awards won by members in the division are testament to the research prowess in the division.
