COURSE FACULTY
A/Prof Jeffrey Low is the Head of Division of Gynaecologic Oncology in the Dept of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the National University Hospital, Singapore. He organized the first Anatomy of Complications in Singapore in 2007 and has since organized more than 25 workshops. He is a fellow of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) as well as the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). He is also the Gynae Oncology Section Chair for the College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, Singapore.
Emeritus Professor Rajendran K is a Professor with the Department of Anatomy at the National University of Singapore. He is one of our course conveners and is the key person responsible for the development of the prosections and Anatomy lecture conducted during the course. Professor Rajendran has been with NUS for more than 40 years and is still very active in undergraduate teaching.
A/Prof Joseph S Ng is a Senior Consultant with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the National University Hospital. He helped establish surgical robotics in NUH and led the movement to safely offer women in Singapore the option to have a hysterectomy and be well enough to be home the very same day. He remains one of the most prolific robotic surgeons in Singapore. His primary area of interest and clinical practice is in cancer surgery and therapeutics. Dr Ng is the founding President of both the Robotic Surgery Society of Singapore (RS3), and the Asian Society for Gynecologic Robotic Surgery (ASGRS).
A/Prof A. Ilancheran completed his basic MBBS degree in Singapore. He did his traineeship in Obstetrics & Gynecology in the University Department at the KK Women's Hospital. He obtained his MMED (O&G) in 1978 and his MRCOG in 1979. He then completed two years of fellowship in gynecologic oncology in the USA, UK and Taiwan between 1983 and 1985. He obtained his MD thesis in 1992.
His current practice includes all areas of gynaecologic cancer, especially surgical management of advanced disease.
A/Prof Roy Ng obtained his basic medical degree from the University of Mysore, India. He is fully registered with the General Medical Council, UK after passing the Scottish Triple Qualification examinations. A/Prof Roy Ng heads the Urogynaecology & Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery Division and attends to patients with urinary incontinence, frequency and urgency, difficulty with passing urine, urinary tract infections, bladder pain, painful sex and prolapse of the vagina, bladder, rectum and uterus. He was also the organiser for the Urogynae Anatomy of Complications Workshop back in 2012 and has been a valuable core faculty member for the Anatomy of Complications for the past 20 workshops.
Dr Pearl Tong is a dedicated gynaecologic oncologist who has returned from a 2 year fellowship program in Australia with a Certificate of Recognised Training awarded by the RANZCOG (Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, 2016/17) after obtaining her O&G specialist qualification. She is a graduate of the National University of Singapore and obtained her Masters of Medicine (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) and is a Member of the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (UK). She manages all aspects of gynaecologic-oncology and her area of passion is in both open and minimally invasive surgery.
Dr Cheong Wai Kit graduated from the University of Malaya in 1990. He obtained his postgraduate qualification form the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1997. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore. Dr Cheong is the Head of Division of Surgical Oncology (Colorectal Surgery), NUH. Dr Cheong is also the Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. He has been our valued core faculty since the first Anatomy of Complications Workshop, training hundreds of participants on bowel injury prevention.
Dr Bettina Lieske graduated from Friedrich Schiller University, Jena, Germany in 2000. She completed her Basic Surgical Training as well as her Higher Surgical Training in the United Kingdom. After her final year of training in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Oxford University Hospital, she was awarded FRCS in 2010 and Certificate of Completion of Training in 2011. Dr Bettina is currently a Senior Consultant with the Division of Colorectal Surgery at the National University Hospital and Assistant Professor on the Clinician Educator Track with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University Singapore. She is also one of our valued core faculty in the Anatomy of Complications Workshop working alongside with Dr Cheong on bowel injury prevention.
Dr David Consigliere graduated from University of Singapore and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow). He has officiated as President of the Singapore Urological Association, the Society for Continence, Singapore, and as Chairman of the Chapter of Urologists, under the College of Surgeons. He is engaged in undergraduate medical training as well as postgraduate urological training. Dr David has been involved in the Anatomy of Complications workshop since its inception and is one of our valued faculty member.
A/Prof Edmund Chiong graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the National University of Singapore. He obtained postgraduate qualifications (Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons In Ireland) in Surgery and completed of his Urology specialist training in Singapore. A/Prof Chiong subsequently completed a 2-year clinical fellowship program in Urologic Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, USA. Apart from clinical practice, A/Prof Chiong is also actively involved in both clinical and laboratory research. His research interests include diagnostic modalities and new therapies for Bladder cancer (including immunotherapy, gene therapy and targeted therapy), Prostate cancer and other Urologic malignancies.
