Geriatric care principles encompass a recognition of change that is age-related rather than disease-related.
In this research programme, research emphasising on geriatric care and wellness involves optimising physical, mental, emotional and social well-being. Besides life expectancy, there will also be a focus on advanced care planning and end-of-life care, where knowledge contributed by this research programme will promote dignified death. When it comes to nursing management, the relationship between biological ageing and health issues will also be discussed and explored through evidence-based information (taking into account physical, cognitive and psychosocial aspects).
The aim is to establish new knowledge and intervention methods that will allow people to live longer and healthier lives.
