Dr Lubna Shah is a lecturer at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Her teaching topics range from mental health to healthcare ethics and law. She has been a registered nurse for over ten years and is actively involved in the clinical experiences of students as their clinical instructor and facilitator. Dr Lubna is also a student support manager in the department where she oversees the provision of psychological and emotional support to students. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Centre as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse- Board Certified (ANCC-PMH-BC).

Dr Lubna spent most of her clinical years in the mental health setting where she nursed individuals with a wide range of mental disorders. As a counsellor by training, she has also served as an adjunct lecturer at the Singapore Polytechnic in the Positive Psychology discipline. She has led several leadership positions in community health and public health care settings. At the Institute of Mental Health, she served as the chairman of the Nursing Clinical Practice Council as well as the Vice-chairman of the Nursing Research and Evidenced-based Practice Council.  Dr Lubna is a strong advocate in advancing mental health care as part of holistic nursing.

Dr Lubna is passionate about advancing nursing education both locally and internationally. In NUS, she has worked on advancing research in mental health for vulnerable women in the perinatal period. She is also actively involved in advancing cross-faculty mental health education through the use of artificial intelligence. She serves as a committee member of the interdisciplinary common curriculum team which prepares students for collaborative patient-centred practice through interdisciplinary learning. She believes that every student has the ability to reach their highest potential with the right guidance and support, striving for every teaching experience to be an impactful and experiential learning moment for her students.
