Kow Jun is a lecturer at the NUS Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (ALCNS), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. An experienced clinician with over a decade of practice as a Registered Nurse and Registered Psychiatric Nurse, he specializes in geriatrics and mental health, bringing integrated, person-centred perspectives from clinical practice to nursing education.

Kow Jun began his career at the National University Hospital after graduating from ALCNS in 2014, starting with two years in a general medical ward with a geriatric focus. During this time, he completed the Graduate Nurse Residency Programme and progressed to specialise in mental health nursing. He then spent six years in a medical-psychiatric ward caring for patients across the lifespan—from paediatrics to geriatrics—with diverse mental health diagnoses and medical conditions presenting with psychiatric symptoms. During this period, he obtained an Advanced Diploma in Mental Health Nursing from Nanyang Polytechnic, enabling him to provide more specialised care for his patients. Subsequently, he joined a community psychiatric programme for three years, supporting older adults with mental health conditions and strengthening continuity of care, and caregiver engagement in the community. He later completed a Master’s in Gerontology at Nanyang Technological University. Returning to his alma mater, Kow Jun now teaches the next generation of nurses, integrating real-world cases and evidence-based approaches to build clinical reasoning and confidence.

Kow Jun is passionate about mental health, geriatrics, and nursing education—particularly stigma reduction, caregiver support, and bridging theory to practice—and is committed to nurturing reflective, compassionate practitioners who advance holistic care for our ageing population.
