Dr Cheng Ling Jie is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit, Nuffield Department of Women’s & Reproductive Health, University of Oxford. He is supported by the NUS-Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowship under the Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent (START) Award from the Ministry of Education, Singapore. His research at Oxford focuses on economic evaluations and decision-analytic modelling in maternal and child health.

He also serves as Senior Tutor at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (NUS Nursing), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He graduated from NUS Nursing with a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) (Honours) and subsequently earned a Master of Public Health and a PhD in Public Health from the National University of Singapore, where he received the Tan Kah Kee Postgraduate Scholarship for academic excellence.

Dr Cheng leads the VALUE Lab, which focuses on health economics and outcomes research. His work spans health measurement and valuation, applications of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), decision-support tools, and health economic evaluations. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles, 98% of which appear in Q1 journals, secured more than SGD 2.0 million in competitive research funding, and supervised over 35 student research projects, many of which have resulted in publications in leading journals and presentations at international conferences.

As an educator, Dr Cheng teaches health economics, clinical epidemiology, evidence synthesis, and applied research methods at NUS Nursing, NUS Public Health, and the University of Oxford, and received Graduate Student Teaching Awards in 2023 and 2024.

Internationally, Dr Cheng is an active member of professional organisations, including the EuroQol Group Association, the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), and the International Society for Quality of Life Research (ISOQOL). He is also a founding member of the EuroQol PhD Network. He currently serves as Senior Editor of Systematic Reviews and Associate Editor of Quality of Life Research. He also acts as a peer reviewer for leading journals, including JAMA Internal Medicine, Value in Health, International Journal of Nursing Studies, and International Journal of Surgery.
