He is a registered nurse and holds a PhD from the National University of Singapore and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Nursing Practice from the University of Manchester, offered through the Singapore Institute of Technology.
Dr. Khairul’s research focuses on three areas: (i) Home-based care, (ii) Advancing healthcare education, and (iii) Technological transformation in nursing. His experience spans both primary and secondary research, applying a wide range of methodologies, including scoping and systematic reviews, phenomenological and descriptive studies, randomized controlled trials, e-Delphi, scale development and psychometric evaluation.
He has played a key role in several research projects and contributed to secure two Health Services Research Grants awarded by Singapore’s Ministry of Health. Dr. Khairul actively disseminates his research through peer-reviewed publications and presents at conferences. His clinical background was primarily in pre-hospital and emergency care. During COVID-19 pandemic, he supported nursing operations in community care facilities under NUHS. He also co-supervised honours year nursing students, contributing to undergraduate research development.
On an international level, Dr. Khairul serves as a research member of the International Home Care Nurses Organization and serves as a peer reviewer for journals such as Journal of Medical Internet Research, Journal of Nursing Management and BMC Medical Education.
Passionate about knowledge exchange and collaboration, Dr. Khairul remains committed to expanding his expertise through research partnerships, international fellowships, and global engagement.
