Application

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program admits one intake per academic year in August. Applications for AY 2025/2026 are currently not open. The minimum and normal candidature period is 24 months (four semesters), with a maximum candidature period of 48 months.

Programme Overview

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, offered by the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, is the first DNP program in Singapore. It equips nurses to lead transformative healthcare initiatives, not only at the clinical level but also across entire healthcare systems. This groundbreaking program enables nurses to achieve the highest academic excellence in clinical practice, empowering them to drive innovation and shape the future of healthcare.

Aims of Programme

The DNP reflects NUS’s commitment to developing critical thinkers, responsible leaders, and global citizens. It integrates advanced clinical practice, leadership, and research to nurture professionals who excel in innovation and healthcare transformation. The program emphasizes critical inquiry, equipping graduates to lead transformative changes, address complex challenges, and shape national and global healthcare systems with excellence, ethical integrity, and a global perspective.

Upon completion of the programme, graduates will be able to:

  1. Utilize advanced clinical judgment and skills to assess, diagnose, and manage complex healthcare issues independently.
  2. Lead and implement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes, healthcare delivery, and organizational performance.
  3. Integrate evidence-based research into practice to drive the advancement of nursing science and improve clinical care.
  4. Advocate for healthcare policy changes to enhance access to care, equity, and patient outcomes.
