Programme Overview

With the growing incidence of chronic diseases in Singapore, there is a need to ensure and enhance patient compliance to treatment. This programme is designed to enable health professionals to acquire relevant and related skills in motivating patients to embrace behaviour change and adopt habits in promotion of well-being.

Aims of Programme

This programme allows participants to:

  • identify Motivational Interviewing (MI) as a counselling style;
  • understand the foundation principles of MI skills;
  • apply MI skills to case scenarios;
  • engage MI demonstrations via “live” examples; and
  • demonstrate core interviewing skills with OARS (Open questions, affirmation, reflective listening and summary reflections).

Programme Details

1 full day from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Healthcare professionals such as nurses and allied health professionals who are engaging with patients.

Tuition Fees

Learners must record at least 75% attendance, and pass all assessment components, to be eligible for SSG funding.
