Dr. Po-Jen Kung is a nurse researcher and policy advocate whose work sits at the intersection of long-term care, pandemic preparedness, health policy, and international nursing education. He is currently a Research Fellow at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He earned his PhD in Nursing from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, and was a Visiting Scholar at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, where he received training in aging and health policy.
Dr. Kung’s research aims to strengthen long-term care systems and improve outcomes for vulnerable populations through policy-informed and practice-relevant approaches. His scholarship spans evidence synthesis, instrument development, national survey research, qualitative inquiry, and policy translation, and has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals. He also serves as a reviewer for several international journals. In parallel with his academic work, Dr. Kung has also contributed to health policy advocacy at national and international levels, including previous service as a congressional assistant in Taiwan, participation in bipartisan policy meetings at the U.S. Congress, and engagement in United Nations-related advocacy activities. He is particularly interested in how nursing research can inform leadership, systems change, and meaningful policy action beyond academia.
