Teaching Areas

Dr. Joanne Chong is a Research Fellow at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. She received her Ph.D in Nursing from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR. Prior to her current appointment, Dr. Chong was a lecturer at the International Medical University and had practiced as an intensive care nurse for eight years, gaining experience in both cardiac ICU/CCU and paediatric surgical ICU in Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, respectively. In recognition of her outstanding performance among emerging nurse leaders, she was awarded the Inspiring Nurse Leader Award 2018 at the Central Nurses Day, Parkway Pantai. 

With her clinical practice background caring mostly for patients with heart conditions, Dr. Chong’s research interests are mainly focused on cardiac rehabilitation, nurse-led interventions for cardiovascular diseases, and wearable technology and physical activity. Dr. Chong has published in top nursing journals and currently serves as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals, including International Journal of Nursing Studies, Journal of Advanced Nursing, and BMC Nursing.
