Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Science (Nursing Practice) programme has been introduced to fulfill aspirations of nursing diploma graduates in the workforce who seek career progression and wish to pursue a part-time Nursing degree at National University of Singapore (NUS).

This part-time degree programme builds on the foundation that polytechnic nursing graduates have established through their three years of diploma studies at Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) or Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP). Applicants with completion of polytechnic nursing diploma from Singapore will be granted advanced placement credit.

The normal and maximum candidatures for BSc (Nursing Practice) are three (3) and four (4) years respectively.

The programme will cover the core competencies required by the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) as well as offer broad-based courses that will prepare registered nurses (RNs) to be critical thinkers and self-directed reflective practitioners, who can apply theoretical learning at their respective practice areas.

Aims of the Programme

The BSc (Nursing Practice) aims to allow learners who are practising Registered Nurses in the workforce to be able to connect the learning with their work roles, develop their capabilities and improve patient outcomes. The programme will support practising RNs in enhancing their knowledge, skills and attitudes to providing high quality and competent care; as well as enhance their analytical and reflective skills to support individual professional practice development.
