Treating, managing, and preventing complications of metabolic disorders is complex.

It requires comprehensive biobehavioral research into the underlying mechanisms between biological and behavioral contributors of health. Given that culture and behavior are inextricably linked, and that Singapore is home to multi-ethnic communities, a key focus of the Chronic Illness and Long-term Care research in NUS Nursing lies in understanding the biobehavioral links behind metabolic disorders. This is crucial if efforts to advance nursing practice in engendering lifestyle modifications at the primary and secondary prevention levels are successful.
