Dr Jocelyn Chew, Research Fellow at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (NUS Nursing) was invited as a speaker at the iAIM 2023, the International Conference of AI in Medicine.

“Professionals should not fear that Artificial Intelligence (AI) would replace them, but instead, welcome the technology to complement their course of work. For nursing, there is a huge potential for us to offload routine tasks to the use of Artificial Intelligence, to free ourselves for critical thinking, clinical judgements, decision-making, and patient interaction,” said Dr Jocelyn Chew, Research Fellow at the Alice Lee School for Nursing Studies (NUS Nursing).
The passion that Dr Chew has in incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into nursing is unbridled, and she carried it to the stage of iAIM 2023, the International Conference of AI in Medicine, where she was invited as a speaker.
Held from 5 to 7 August 2023, iAIM 2023 is Singapore’s inaugural International Conference on AI in Medicine. Themed “What’s the future of AI in Medicine?”, the conference saw 500 delegates from Singapore and all around the world sharing and learning about transformative research on AI in Medicine, as well its potential impact, applications and ethical implications.
Dr Chew shared about the potential of using AI for health behaviour change, as the timely maturation of large language models now makes it a useful tool.
“Health behaviours have been said to contribute to 30-40% of the social determinants of health, which makes it a crucial part of prolonging wellness and disease prevention. This would in turn lead to healthcare cost savings and improved quality of life,” said Dr Chew.
With a fervent interest in the field of healthcare digital transformation, her research focuses on the use of AI to improve health behaviours, cardiometabolic disease prevention and healthcare service delivery.
She is currently on the Singapore Biodesign Innovation Fellowship to further her research endeavors in Medtech and entrepreneurship.
