Welcome to the NUS Medicine Family, Class of 2028
Published: 21 Aug 2023
Our freshest cohort of medical students was treated to the traditional NUS Medicine Welcome Dinner on 29 July 2023, and solemnly took their vows of commitment to the medical profession before embarking on their formal education, on 11 August 2023.
Welcome Dinner
A ceremonial procession led faculty and students to their seats.
Students were introduced to their Houses, received scarves and ties designed uniquely for their cohort, and drew closer to their educators at the event.
With candle flames, educators symbolically passed the light of knowledge and wisdom to their students, as a mark of their commitment to their medical profession.
May the passion for Medicine burn bright in your years with us, and welcome to the family, Class of 2028!
White Coat Ceremony
Incoming students of the Class of 2028 present their white coats to NUS Medicine faculty members, who then place the coats on the students’ shoulders. This symbolises the students’ taking on the mantle of their medical training, and the values of the medical profession.
This year, we had Prof Leo Yee Sin, Senior Consultant, Ministry of Health, and Senior Adviser, National Healthcare Group, grace the event as Guest-of-Honour.
The new medical students take the Hippocratic Oath, as a pledge of their commitment to the values of the medical profession.
Best wishes in your medical education journey!
