National Parks Board built two therapeutic gardens at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park and Tiong Bahru Park after adopting suggestions made by Professor Kua Ee Heok from the Department of Psychological Medicine at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

Based on a research study led by Prof Kua last year, frequent visits to therapeutic gardens can help elderly improve their immune system, blood circulation, and mental health.

The government hopes to build more therapeutic gardens to serve the ageing population over the next decade.
