Torched food has become increasingly popular, but experts warned it is potentially dangerous. These foods undergo chemical reactions at high temperatures which make them tasty, and overcooked crusts are known to contain cancer-causing chemicals.

“It’s important that we keep everything in moderation,” says Professor Jeyakumar Henry. He adds that marinating meats in seasonings can reduce the levels of cancer-causing substances.
