Coping with the loss of a child

It is uncommon for a parent to face the death of their children. In 2015, less than 1 in 10 deaths in Singapore consist of residents 50 years old and below. Some deaths would have been unexpected and others may have followed a period of illness, but they are all distressing and traumatic. Dr Noreen Chan, Assistant Professor from Department of Medicine at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, explains how caregivers can cope with death, and what palliative care can offer.
