Better food, better vision

The same diet that is good for our body, is also good for our eyes, said Dr Stephanie Ming Young, an NUS Medicine alumna who is now an associate consultant at the National University Hospital Eye Surgery Centre.

She recommended eating leafy green vegetables like kale; dark green or brightly-coloured fruit and vegetables with plenty of antioxidants; oranges and other citrus fruits containing lots of vitamin C; yellow vegetables; legumes like kidney beans and peanuts with zinc; and fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon, tuna, mackerel and sardines.
