It was an extraordinary afternoon as more than 240 medical students and tutors from the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine received their awards at the NUS University Cultural Centre, on the 25 November 2013.
It was the first ever awards and appreciation ceremony organized by the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. This event celebrates not only students’ achievements in the area of academics but other areas like Arts and Culture, Community Service, Sports and Leadership. On top of that, students who have made significant contribution to the betterment of the student welfare and vibrancy of student life have also been recognized during the event.
This year, the event was graced by more than 600 faculty guests, students and parents. The atmosphere of the event was further heightened as four musical bands made up of medical students took on the stage to add a celebratory note to the event. The event took on a warming and touching turn as Mr Charles Ong Jit Teng, the ex-president of the 64th Medical Society, presented the Outstanding Tutors Awards, on behalf of the student population, to acknowledge tutors who are nominated by the students for their contribution to their education. A total of 21 tutors were nominated by their students to receive this award.
