Dr Wang Jiong-Wei YONG LOO LIN SCHOOL OF MEDICINE YOUNG RESEARCHER OF THE YEAR AWARD – 2023

Dr Wang has been selected to receive the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Young Researcher of the Year Award for 2023. This award recognises junior faculty members who have demonstrated great potential in research and achieved research excellence.

Dr Bettina Lieske YONG LOO LIN SCHOOL OF MEDICINE TEACHING EXCELLENCE AWARD (INDIVIDUAL) - 2023

Dr Bettina Lieske has been selected to receive the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Teaching Excellence Award (Individual) for 2023. This award recognises faculty members who have excelled in teaching, and have shown a high level of performance, dedication and commitment to teaching and learning.

Dr Gao Yujia YONG LOO LIN SCHOOL OF MEDICINE DIGITAL EDUCATION AWARD (TEAM) – 2023

Dr Gao's team has been selected to receive the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Digital Education Award (Team) for 2023. This award recognises teams that have contributed to excellence in innovative teaching, shown dedication and commitment, and produced high-quality digital technologies for teaching and learning in the School. A/Prof Lim Thiam Chye Friends of Wong Hock Boon Society Award

The new Friends of Wong Hock Boon Society Award is presented this year in recognition of the various sponsoring institutions who have supported the society in various activities over the past year (2015 - 2016). This award is a show of appreciation from the society towards institutions who have supported medical research with students from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine with diverse research projects. It is hoped that this award will encourage institutions to continue to increase the diversity, frequency, and number of research projects offered to students. This inaugural Friends of Wong Hock Boon Award in 2016 is awarded to the Department of Surgery.

NUS Teaching Excellence Award 2016 Congratulations to our Dr Alfred Kow for being recognised as one of the recipients for the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award winners!

This Annual Teaching Excellence Award serve three important functions in an institution of higher education. First, they recognise teachers who excel in their profession. Second, the awards serve as an indication of the importance the institution accords to teaching. Third, the awards send clear signals to the teaching community about what the institution regards as high quality teaching, i.e. by identifying the results that the institution’s teaching practices aim to strive for. Alfred Kow Wei Chieh has won the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award (ATEA) for Academic Year 2011/2012, 6 Mar 2013. NUH Teaching Excellence Award.

Dr Alfred Kow and Dr Chong Choon Seng have won the NUH Teaching Excellence Award, 5 September 2014.

Headship of Division/ Services Head of Endocrine Services

Dr Rajeev Parameswaran was conferred as Head of Endocrine Services, Division of General Surgery to the Department of Surgery, NUH, with effect from 10 July 2014.

Dr Chan Ching Wan was conferred as Head of Breast Services, Division of General Surgery to the Department of Surgery , NUH, with effect from 1 September 2014

Head the Division of General Surgery.

A/Prof Philip Iau will continue to Head the Division of General Surgery, Department of Surgery , NUH, and he will continue to oversee the Trauma Services.

Raj Menon has won the Dean's Award for AY11/12, 20 Nov 2013

Eliana Martinez has won theYoung Investigator's Award - Basic Science at Singapore Cardiac Society Annual Scientific Meeting 2013, 21 Apr 2013 for his poster entitled: 3D Grafts Enriched with Subamnion-Mesenchymal Stem Cell Angiogenic Spheroids Induce Post-Ischemic Myoscardial Re-Vascularization, Reduce Fibrosis and Recover Cardiac Function in Failing Rat Hearts.

Enhanced Neovascularization mediated by VEGF-Loaded Pegylated Fibrinogen Hydrogel in a Rodent Myocardial Infarction Model.

Rufaihah Abdul Jalil has won the Travel Award at ASCVTS 2013 - The 21st Annual Meeting of the Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Kobe, Japan Apr 4-7, 2013, 18 Mar 2013 for his poster entitled: Enhanced Neovascularization mediated by VEGF-Loaded Pegylated Fibrinogen Hydrogel in a Rodent Myocardial Infarction Model.
