Posting Opportunities

Postings are counted in weeks, commencing on a Monday and ending on a Friday. Attendance on Saturdays and Sundays are not necessary unless required by the department that you are posted to. You may also be required to attend lectures and tutorials, subjected to the Department’s advice. The minimum and maximum total posting periods are 2 weeks and 12 weeks respectively. Requests for postings outside stipulated dates will be on case-by-case basis, subjected to departmental capacity.

At the point of application, applicants must indicate the exact period (day, month and year) of their proposed electives. Applicants are advised to indicate up to four (4) postings. All postings applied for are subjected to the availability of vacancies and supervision. NUS Medicine cannot guarantee the availability of clinical placements, and may not be able to source for a place for every applicant.

Successful applicants who are not able to pursue their clinical postings should write in with a valid reason to medelectives@nus.edu.sg at least 4 weeks in advance.

For postings at the Singapore General Hospital, please note that the hospital will only process a maximum of two postings (per application) for consecutive posting periods, and the hospital will not take into consideration the third posting that may be indicated on the application.

Any request for a change in discipline/ department/ hospital of postings will NOT be entertained after the application has been processed by the hospitals.
