Posting Opportunities

General Information (Terms and Condition for Posting Application)

  • All postings are calculated in weekly blocks, beginning on Monday and ending on Friday. Weekend attendance (Saturday and Sunday) is generally not required, unless specified by the hosting department. In addition to clinical duties, you may be expected to attend lectures or tutorials, depending on the department’s schedule and requirements.
  • The minimum duration for a posting is 2 weeks, and the maximum is 12 weeks per application. Requests for postings outside the standard dates will be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to the department’s availability and capacity. Each student is only allowed to put up one (1) application at any one point
  • Each student is only allowed to put up 1 set of application (means 1 Application ID). Postings applied should be back to back if more than 1 posting is applied over the total duration. There should not be a “1 week” gap between postings
  • NUS Medicine does not control placement availability at partner hospitals. NUS Medicine will first verify that all pre-application documents meet requirements, then forward student’s request to the applied hospital. The hospital will review and reply through the application portal, and students be notified by email when a response is available.
  • When submitting your application, you must clearly indicate the exact dates (day, month, and year) for your proposed elective postings. You are encouraged to list up to five (5) preferred postings at any one point.
  • Approvals for each posting may take up to a month or longer, depending on the application volume at the respective hospital. If a student is rejected for all of their selected postings, they may email us with new choices to add to their existing application. A new application is not required.

  • Please note that all postings are subject to the availability of vacancies and supervision. While NUS Medicine will do its best to accommodate your preferences, placement is not guaranteed, and we may not be able to secure a clinical posting for every applicant.
  • Please also note that some hospital will only review and accept student placement from MOH (Ministry of Health) approved overseas institution . Please refer to our Posting Opportunities (below) to view placements listed
  • Requests to change the discipline, department, or hospital for your posting will NOT be considered once your application has been processed by the hospitals or your postings have been confirmed.

If you are accepted into the programme but are unable to proceed with your posting, please notify us by emailing medelectives@nus.edu.sg with a valid reason at least 4 weeks in advance.
