SINGER

The SINgapore GERiatric Intervention Study to Reduce Cognitive Decline and Physical Frailty (SINGER) Study

SINGER is a two-year clinical trial that aims to evaluate whether multidomain lifestyle intervention is effective in reducing cognitive decline and physical frailty in at risk elderly in Singapore

Our study was based on the Finnish Geriatric Intervention Study to Prevent Cognitive Impairment and Disability (FINGER), which is the first randomized controlled trial (RCT) and shows that it is possible to prevent cognitive decline using a multidomain lifestyle intervention among older at-risk individuals.

World Wide FINGERS (WW-FINGERS) was established to support other countries to test the effects of multidomain lifestyle interventions, modelled after FINGER, on brain health and dementia prevention in diverse population. In Singapore, we have the SINgapore GERiatric intervention study to reduce cognitive decline and physical frailty (SINGER) trial.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the SINGER trial has been adapted to conduct lifestyle interventions remotely. Face to face study visits has been minimised and most of the research activities will be conducted online through a digital platform.

If you are eligible to join the SINGER trial, you will receive guidance on diet, exercise, cognitive training and vascular monitoring. You will be able to play an active role in your own healthy ageing and make new friends in the process.

The SINGER study has completed recruitment, you may contact our recruitment coordinator to see whether you are eligible for other research studies.
