Programme Highlights
This advanced course will teach learners, including Specialists, General Practitioners (GPs), nurses and pharmacists, in the community and hospitals, advanced skills to screen for, diagnose and treat Osteoporosis to prevent Singaporeans from sustaining fragility fractures. With proper treatment, the risk of fractures can be reduced by 30-70%. However, there is low awareness of the importance of Osteoporosis, both among healthcare workers and even among patients who have already fractured, who are at the highest risk of further fractures. Hence the number of people at high risk of fractures being diagnosed and managed appropriately is low at less than 20%. This course, based on the Osteoporosis Essentials Course developed jointly by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) and the International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD), will help Singaporeans keep free from fractures and their consequences.
