Biography
A/Prof Derrick Lian completed his basic medical education in the National University of Singapore. Following his housemanship, A/Prof Lian trained in Histopathology and was accepted as a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK). He then subspecialised in Paediatric and Perinatal Pathology, having trained and worked in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital before joining the National University Hospital.
A/Prof Lian is active in the field of medical education, and is a highly rated educator in premedical, medical undergraduate, and postgraduate classes across various medical disciplines, particularly anatomical pathology. He is not a stranger to the medical students, being a mentor to many. He cares deeply about their professional development and wellbeing, and works to help them transition smoothly into junior doctors.
Above teaching and mentoring, he is also active in the medical school admissions process, student support space, medical school curriculum planning, and plays an active role in assessments across all levels of medical school.
