At Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (NUS Nursing), students have the opportunity to join various clubs that foster a strong sense of community, focusing on the welfare of others while gaining valuable leadership experience. These student-led groups provide a platform for the students to actively contribute to the well-being of both their peers and the broader school community, all while creating lasting memories and meaningful connections.
Established in 2008, the Nursing Sub-Club is a student-led group of nursing students, for nursing students. More than just a committee, we are a vibrant family where members grow together as leaders, develop leadership skills, and foster connections and friendships for a shared vision. Driven by passion, the Nursing Sub-club empowers nursing students with creative freedom and the opportunity to bring their ideas and plans to life. Through our initiatives, we aim to create a vibrant experience for the nursing community that makes campus life more engaging and fulfilling.
Throughout the years, we have organised key events such as Halloween Carnival, Valentine’s Day, Finals welfare pack distribution, Dinner & Dance, and Inauguration to welcome the incoming Nursing students. Additionally, we provide guidance and advice to the Nursing Freshmen Orientation Camp (NFOC) organizing committee, which is open to Y1 Nursing students to join and create a memorable camp for the incoming students. These signature events provide an opportunity for all students to create lasting memories, a sense of belonging to NUS and NUS Nursing, and a place to celebrate their achievements.
At Nursing Sub-Club, students can explore and learn in various committees that suit their interests, such as Events, Welfare-Logistics, Publicity, and Cohort Representatives. Students will also be allocated to 1 of 10 houses in NUS Nursing, and students who are passionate about creating a safe and close-knit family can join as a House Vice-captain in your first year, guided by your House Captain, and continuing as a House Captain in your second year. Each offers valuable experiences, technical skills, and knowledge that build on your decision-making, effective communication, and teamwork.
The student life here in Nursing Sub-club is truly meaningful in shaping a dynamic and inclusive nursing community where everybody can grow, connect, and make an impact. The NUS Students’ Medical Club, more commonly known as the NUS MedNurse Club, proudly represents the interests of both Medicine and Nursing students within NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and NUS Students’ Union (NUSSU).
Dedicated to fostering a holistic and vibrant student experience, the Club organises and executes signature student life events, while also spearheading faculty-wide initiatives that address students’ interests and concerns. Our efforts are driven by three key wings — Freshman Orientation Programmes (FOPs), Student Life (Welfare & Events), and Sports — with each playing a vital role in building an engaging and tight-knit MedNurse community.
One of our key FOPs is MedNurse RAG and FLAG, an annual charity event that unites the NUS community in support of the less privileged. Through this programme, we raise funds for meaningful causes under the Community Chest umbrella, thus directly contributing to the well-being of our underprivileged beneficiaries. MedNurse FLAG has a longstanding partnership with the Autism Resource Center (Singapore) — beyond fundraising for their operations, we organise flagship events like Autism Experiential Camp and Social Leisure Day, where freshmen gain first-hand insight into the experiences of people with autism. These interactive sessions provide meaningful opportunities for conversations and interactions with our beneficiaries.
MedNurse RAG serves as the grand finale for RAG and FLAG, culminating in a live performance at NUS UTown as a gesture of appreciation for the generosity of our donors. Audiences can expect an electrifying showcase of dance and cheer, set against a breathtaking backdrop of meticulously hand-crafted floats and props. Often hailed as the pride of our faculty, MedNurse RAG is widely-regarded by many freshmen as a highlight of their orientation journey.
Another cornerstone of our FOP lineup is Camp MedNurse — the first and only NUS orientation camp designed specifically for both Medicine and Nursing freshmen. Beyond fostering friendships and easing the transition into university life, Camp MedNurse also serves as a unique platform for aspiring healthcare professionals to forge deep and lasting connections, united by a shared passion for care and service.
Our Sports department plays a crucial role in fostering faculty camaraderie and competitive spirit through two key tournaments — MedLaw Games, which brings together the NUS Medicine and NUS Law faculties in a series of friendly matchups; and the Inter-Faculty Games (IFG), a highly-anticipated university-wide competition where faculties go head-to-head for the prestigious Tan Eng Chye Challenge Trophy. Beyond these tournaments, MedNurse Club actively supports MedSIGs (Medical Special Interest Groups), which provide students with opportunities to train in various sports for these tournaments. Through a culture of teamwork and healthy competition, we aim to nurture a platform for Medicine and Nursing students to represent the faculty together.
MedNurse Club is committed to fostering a vibrant and engaging student life through a plethora of year-long happenings. From welfare initiatives such as Exam Welfare Pack giveaways to special events like carnivals and art workshops, there’s always something for students to look forward to. These initiatives create meaningful opportunities for relaxation, connection, and enjoyment, ensuring that every student finds a place to unwind and engage beyond their academic journey.
