“As a mentor, I felt like we could communicate better with our mentees as we had a platform to do so. Being given a chance to choose who they want their mentors to be, gave our fellow mentees a freedom to choose whoever they were comfortable with. This translated to less tension and more spontaneous conversation which fostered the bond between the mentors and mentees. I would highly recommend to continue Peer Mentoring Programme so as to assimilate the freshies into the course.
There was an occasion where my mentees asked me about an assignment they had to submit. As i had prior knowledge, i could share some of my learning points as well as some mistakes from it. This is so that we can learn from it together. I feel that we have an important role to guide them especially when they feel lost.”

“The Peer Mentoring Programme was a significant part of my uni life as a nursing student. Nursing is quite different from many other courses in uni as there are clinicals, practical skills and many other small details that can really improve our life as students. Being paired up with a Y2 mentor really allowed me to gain more insights and get more advice from them on the different aspects of nursing. They share their personal experiences and how they manage their lives as a nursing student which I found really precious as I gained more insights!”
