“As a mentor, my main goal was to support my mentees as much as possible through their freshman year. Having experienced how stressful and overwhelming university life can be, especially for a freshman, I wanted to be there for them whenever they needed it and provide them with any academic support I could. Through study sessions with my mentees, I was able to revise my knowledge and form new friendships. I would urge more seniors to take on the role of mentors with an open and sincere heart. Through and beyond these mentorship programs, I hope everyone has a similar experience, if not better than mine.”

– Syasya (Mentor)

As someone without any connections in the nursing program, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed when I started university. Thankfully, I was able to find a mentor through the Peer Mentoring Programme. My mentor was able to give me helpful advice about university life, as well as introduce me to some of her friends so I could make some connections in the nursing program. My mentor was also very helpful when it came to the curriculum, providing advice on what courses to take, which electives to consider and where to find resources to help me with my studies. She even shared her study notes so that I can prepare better for my exams. Despite having a lot of her own responsibilities and commitments, my mentor still found the time to give me the support I needed. I am very grateful for her help and guidance, as it has made my journey into university life much smoother. I’m sure it will help the incoming Y1s in years to come too!”
