Hello Benner-lings! We are named after Patricia Benner who founded the theory of Novice to Expert, explaining how nurses gain skills and knowledge overtime. While NUS Nursing will cover that, Benner is here for you to forge lifelong friendships!
We are here to create a warm and comfortable environment for you to not just survive but also thrive. So join that CCA, take that module and enjoy the ride. It may not be a smooth sailing one but we promise you’ll never feel alone on this journey for as long as you have Benner!

“My mentor is a very easygoing and friendly senior who quickly became a friend rather than a senior. During exam season, she would send me her own personal notes that are far more concise and easier to digest rather than the slides and it has helped me immensely. Other than the core mods, she also helps me choose my UEs and lets me know which is easy and what some UEs entails. Due to the clashes in our extra-curricular activities, we show up and help out for each other’s events. Peer Mentoring Programme is not a scary hierarchical programme but rather an opportunity for seniors to not only help out academically but also forge friendships outside of your cohort.”

“The mentorship programme is a valuable programme that benefits both seniors and juniors of the Nursing programme. For juniors, it provides a platform to ask questions and seek guidance from seniors who have faced similar academic and life challenges, especially with the transition to university or a new phase of life. For the seniors, it is a platform to give back to the school while reinforcing the concepts that were taught previously when consulted by juniors. It is a chance to reflect on their own experiences and share knowledge with others.
As the programme is based on individual commitment levels, each experience will be unique. However, it plays a key role in bringing the nursing community together, fostering lasting connections, and contributing to a strong, supportive culture”
