Dr. Brigitte Woo is a Research Fellow at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (NUS Nursing), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). Before her appointment as a Research Fellow, she practiced at the National University Hospital as a Registered Nurse for six years. During which, she was trained as critical care nurse and worked in the intensive care setting. She continues to retain her professional nursing license with the Singapore Nursing Board after leaving clinical practice.

In 2013, Dr. Woo was awarded the inaugural International Scholarship from the University of Manchester to pursue a Master in Clinical Research. Following that, in 2016, she received the NUS Research Scholarship to do a full-time PhD at NUS Nursing.

Dr. Woo has published in top nursing journals including the International Journal of Nursing Studies, Journal of Nursing Management and Journal of Clinical Nursing. Her research centres around the role, utilisation, and professional development of advanced practice nurses. Thus far, she has conducted nationwide cross-sectional studies and collaborated with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Office, Ministry of Health (MOH), Singapore. She continues to work with the CNO Office to effect change in policy through research and evaluation. Apart from advanced practice nursing research, she has conducted research and published work on integrating and optimising care for patients living with atrial fibrillation.

As a Research Fellow in NUS Nursing, Dr. Woo also teaches in the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) and Bachelor of Science (Nursing Practice) (Part-time) programmes. At present, she is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau – Upsilon Eta Chapter.
