Dr Seah Betsy is a registered nurse and Research Assistant Professor at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (NUS Nursing), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Her research interests are (a) community care in older adults, (b) sustainability and development in the nursing workforce, and (c) innovations in nursing education.
Dr Seah is passionate about promoting healthy ageing and improving aged care in the community. She developed a personalised and comprehensive health resource intervention for older adults living alone to age well and engage in healthier lifestyle behaviours. She also co-founded a non-profit charity organisation, Health Concepts & Measurements-HealthierSG Ltd (which was later rebranded to Total Well-being SG) to enhance intrinsic capacity and stimulate mindset growth towards well-being concepts in the community.
Dr Seah publishes internationally peer-reviewed articles and presents at both local and international conferences. She has been awarded more than SGD1,300,000 of research funding as a principal investigator, co-investigator, and collaborator. While Dr Seah is well-versed in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, she has a strong interest in qualitative research methods. Dr Seah serves as an executive committee member of the Asia-Pacific Qualitative Health Research Network (AQUHN). Additionally, she is a contributing member of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Qualitative Evidence Synthesis Methods Group (JBI-QESMG). Dr Seah is also an appointed member of the Department Ethics Review Committee (DERC) for NUS Nursing since 2019. She is an editorial board member of BMC Geriatrics, and an active peer reviewer for international journals.
