Dr. Exequiel Cabanda is a Research Fellow at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (NUS Nursing), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). Dr. Cabanda is a policy scientist whose research focuses on health human resource policy, the mobility of health workers, and the interconnection of health, migration, and higher education. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree specializing in Public Policy and Global Affairs from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore under full research scholarship. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship, which enabled him to study for his Master of Arts at the International Christian University (ICU), Tokyo, Japan. His interdisciplinary approach encompasses policy sciences, international political economy, and labour studies.

Before joining NUS Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, Dr. Cabanda was a Research Fellow at the NUS-Asia Research Institute (ARI) working on a Canadian SSHRC-funded project that examines three nurse migration pathways: India-Canada (two-step), Vietnam-Germany (triple win), and Philippines-Singapore (bus stop). Prior to academia, he gained extensive experience in government and financial institutions, focusing on development finance, planning, corporate finance, and policy research.

Currently, Dr. Cabanda is serving as a special issue editor for Applied MobilitiesJournal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, and International Migration, covering research themes such as migration infrastructure, intra-Asia parenting and sending-state regimes, and international skilled migration, respectively.
