Woo Fong Yeong Brigitte
Research Fellow at NUS Nursing Grauduated with: BSc (Nursing) (Hons), 2011 and PhD (Nursing), 2020
The NUS Nursing PhD programme is very rigorous and has a good selection of research-related courses. The cohort size is small and so we had more opportunities to interact with the teaching faculty. The programme also allowed us to take elective courses from other faculties to supplement our learning as nursing researchers. The PhD programme has equipped me with skills to lead research projects and publish academic papers. Completion of the programme gave me the opportunity to join NUS Nursing as a Research Fellow which allows me to further hone my skills as a researcher.
Seah Betsy
Research fellow at NUS Nursing Graduated with: BSc (Nursing), 2012 and PhD, 2020
I developed an interest in research during the 4th year honours programme at NUS Nursing as an undergraduate. I enjoyed learning about the rigour of research processes, and I came to appreciate that knowledge is power. I was inspired and hope to generate useful knowledge through research and inform evidence-based practices for healthcare practitioners and in education. I moved on to embark on my PhD journey with NUS Nursing where I had various opportunities to present at international and local conferences, and to connect and learn from like-minded researchers across the globe.
Chen Wei Ting
Assistant Director of Nursing Assistant Clinical Director, Division for Central Health Advanced Practice Nurse, Palliative Care Tan Tock Seng Hospital Graduated with: Masters in Nursing, 2010 and PhD in Nursing, 2019
The Master of Nursing programme has prepared me to practice independently as a community APN in palliative care. For the PhD programme, it has helped to hone my critical thinking to develop clinical services in my area of work. With the knowledge gained, I can also mentor and develop other junior nurses. Various research methods were taught during the course of study at NUS Nursing. Different research seminars and the participation in conferences have allowed me to have the opportunities to learn from fellow researchers locally and overseas.
