Care within the acute and community settings are increasingly complex, emphasising the need for growth in the nursing workforce and competency. Nursing workforce will need to be competent to demonstrate higher levels of clinical reasoning and leadership in practice.

NUS Nursing Undergraduate degrees aim to equip our students with a range of graduate skills such as critical thinking, decision making, enhanced clinical skills, leadership, and evidence-based professional practice as well as community and public health nursing. 

The pedagogical approach, competency-based curriculum, and adoption of state-of-the art technology in the teaching have honed skills to poise NUS nursing graduates to better understand and address the current and future healthcare challenges. 

At NUS Nursing, there are three degree programmes to fulfill the different needs of the student whose aspiration is to be in nursing. Our undergraduate degree offers opportunities for ‘A’ level and Nursing Diploma graduates and mid-career individuals to acquire relevant training to be Registered Nurses. Registered Nurses who are diploma graduates with the aspiration for career growth may embark in the Nursing degree on a part-time mode

About our Undergraduate Degree Programmes

The Bachelor of Science (Nursing) degree is a 3-year undergraduate programme. Our undergraduate degree offers opportunities for ‘A’ level and Nursing Diploma graduates and mid-career individuals to acquire relevant training to be Registered Nurses. At NUS Nursing, NUS students have several options to pursue their undergraduate NUS nursing education, which include accomplishing their degree on a full-time or part-time basis.

Full-time Nursing Degree – Bachelor of Science (Nursing)

The full-time NUS nursing degree is a three-year programme that equips students with the practical, critical, and analytical skills necessary to deliver high-quality patient care. During the programme, students will work with other healthcare professionals in different clinical settings, equipping them for real-life care.

After completing the programme, graduates may apply to the Singapore Nursing Board to be registered and practise as official Registered Nurses, or they may opt to continue with their postgraduate studies.

Full-time Nursing Honours Degree – Bachelor of Science (Nursing)(Honours)

Students who do well throughout their full-time Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and have attained a grade point average of 3.2 are eligible to apply for the Honours Programme leading to BSc (Nursing)(Honours). This distinguished programme helps to further equip students with the unique skills and knowledge to become exceptional medical practitioners and leaders.

Part-time Nursing Degree – Bachelor of Science (Nursing Practice)

Registered Nurses who aspire to pursue a degree in nursing in Singapore while enjoying employment may seek to accomplish their education as a part-time student through this unique NUS nursing degree programme. The normal and maximum candidature for this Bachelor of Science (Nursing Practice) programme is 3 and 4 years respectively as the students work during their studies. To accommodate the working schedules of these professionals, this programme offers evening and/or weekend classes with blended learning via face-to-face and online lessons.

Full-time Nursing Degree – For Mid-Career Switch

For mid-career individuals who are looking to pursue a career path as professional carers, they may consider NUS Nursing Career Conversion Programme for Registered Nurses (CCP-RN) (Degree). It is a 2-year full time degree designed to meet the Standards of Nursing Education and accreditation requirements of the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB). This programme is fully funded by Workforce Singapore (WSG), Ministry of Health (MOH) and a co-sponsoring organization for successful candidates.
