Programme Director Message

Welcome everyone! It is my pleasure to introduce our Master of Community Health programme as we embark on this exciting journey toward advancing your education and expertise in the field of community health. As society faces ever-evolving challenges in public health, the need for skilled professionals with advanced knowledge and expertise in community health becomes increasingly paramount. This programme is designed to equip individuals with a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted aspects of public health, focusing on social determinants of health and to start adopting sustainable practices.

During your course of study with us, you will have the chance to engage with experienced faculty members and industrial partners, collaborate with your peers, and delve into the latest research and practices. Through the translational learning experience, I am confident that this programme will not only provide you with a foundation of knowledge but also foster the passion needed to address the complex challenges faced by communities today. Application

There is one intake per academic year, in August. Application for AY 2024/2025 is currently not open. The minimum and normal candidature period is over four (4) semesters, 24 months and the maximum candidature is 48 months.

Programme Overview

With a changing shift in the demographic profiles and landscape of healthcare, the need for community health education is becoming apparent. The goal of implementing the Master of Community Health programme is twofold. The first is to address the ageing population and chronic health conditions to meet the escalating demands of the healthcare sector. The second is to create a platform for individuals from various professions to acquire and apply new knowledge and skills necessary to promote innovation, prepare for global challenges, and foster a collaborative academic environment.

Aims of Programme

The Master of Community Health is designed for individuals and professionals from diverse disciplines with interest in building their career in the community health.
Upon completion of the programme, graduates will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the principles, theories, and models related to both community health and integrated health. 
  2. Possess the skills to collaborate and work effectively across various healthcare disciplines, integrating medical, social, and behavioural aspects to address complex health issues in diverse populations. 
  3. Proficient in critically analysing health data, assessing community needs, and applying advanced analytical methods to design and implement integrated health interventions. 
  4. Develop and implement innovative, evidence-based solutions that integrate medical care, public health, and social services to improve health outcomes at the community and population levels. 
  5. Demonstrate effective strategies for community engagement, empowerment, and capacity-building, fostering partnerships that promote sustainable health improvements within diverse communities. 
  6. Adept at integrating health information technology and digital solutions to enhance healthcare delivery and data management. 
  7. Develop effective health communication strategies and educational materials to promote health literacy and behaviour change within communities. 
  8. Exhibit leadership skills in navigating complex healthcare environments, managing integrated care teams, and leading initiatives that address the social and environmental factors on health outcomes. 
  9. Uphold principles of cultural and ethical competence, recognizing and addressing health disparities, and working towards health equity. 
  10. Apply a global and population health perspective, understanding the interconnectedness of health issues across diverse populations.
